Water Art

+Water is something I want to understand.  It moves me.  There is art in i, and *-life both contrived, mimicked, and natural.  I like to believe the mimicked copies the contrived and the contrived copies the natural.  Mimicked art is simple.  It is a blank page or soda cans` stacked one on top of the other.  Though they are considered art, they are really trying to mimic what is art.  There is no beauty in a blank page, unless maybe you are an author.  And there is no beauty in stacked soda cans, unless maybe you have a plastic trash bag and are on the way to the redemption center.  All they are trying to evoke is the sense of art, the true beauty in cezanne or picasso and while we all get points for trying, in these cases they failed miserably.  Soda cans will never be art unless sweat pours from a furrowed brow and a life is spent in investigation and understanding to create something that transcends what they are, soda cans, and truly mimic something else in our natural world.
Now contrived art is another level and while mimicked art can arise to the level of contrived through time and work, just like contrived is not natural, neither is mimicked or contrived in the majority of cases.  Mimicked art looks to  capture a moment or scene of pure ascetic beauty; the world around in us, our nature..  Contrived art is a way of freezing or capturing those moments our nature offer that moved us so much we long to remember.  The Mona Lisa, the Statue of Liberty,  an extraordinary life captured in a movie.  W
When the work is done right, it transcends the moment for something deeper and takes us to a place where we can experienced just what the artist saw and the beauty that inspired him or her.
it can be ugly at times, gathering these memories of true beauty truly inspire us to express on a high level.  It is the Mona Lisa, it is Durans life where each little bit sets afire the soul.  In fishing we find all the beauty in our natural world.  Be it a suburban river or far off B.C. we know of this beauty and all of us our heart, soul, and will longs to place us there.  In the city it is messy to get lost in the miscommunication of people or the need for a other. but love, true love, can be found in our natural world.  A day on the river eases to a day of pure pleasant more so than a held hand, though we can hold hands there, or a lascivious leap though that can be found there also.  Water is our world.  While the city gnaws at the soul, while rules inhibit the spirit, the freedom of a river takes it and turns it on its end and shakes it out till all is left is joy.  You may say because it is our essence or our desire or pure hope but no matter why, but there is an overwhelming truth that water soothes the soul like nothing else and I long to stand beside

  1. I feel your love of water.
I want to find you a lovely river in Montana or Idaho
    That you can fish.
    Brown. Rainbow.
To cook and eat over an open fire.
    In the raging sunset.
